Waikiki Yacht Club

The Waikiki Yacht Club is the largest Yacht Club of Hawaii. There are 150 boats slips and a vibrant membership offering lots of amenities such as bar, dining, pool, gym, and sailboat rentals. The Waikiki Yacht Club hosts the Transpac Yacht Race and runs a number of sailing races throughout the year. There are also fishing tournaments and lots of social activities on Holidays and for kids. Members of other Yacht Clubs throughout the US are able to access the Club for limited periods of time as guests and may enjoy the facilities provided they have a letter

Waikiki Yacht Club (WYC), situated at the edge of Honolulu’s Ala Moana Beach Park and the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor, is one of the premier yacht clubs in the Pacific. It has been the home to sailboat racers and fishing enthusiasts since 1944.

Amenities

  • Restaurant- Members and their guests are welcome to enjoy waterfront dining at WYC which includes regular lunch service, evening dining, and Sunday brunch. Daily casual menu selections are available in the lounge and throughout the Club. Reservations are only available for the Dining Room on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights, as well as brunch on Sundays. Enjoy live music at the bar and lounge Friday and Saturday nights, as well as during Sunday brunch.
  • Bar- The bar is open 6 days a week with most sports events televised on the 4 large tvs in teh bar area. There are approximately 13 bar stools and 6 large tables in the bar area.
  • Lockers- Members can rent the Club’s lockers to store personal belongings. See the office for policies and rates. ~$25/mo.
  • Dining- Members and guests can enjoy dining in the bar and wharf 6 days a week as well as the dining room 4 days a week. There are daily specials featuring a variety of seafood and protein options.
  • Pool- Members and their guests can sit back and relax at the WYC swimming pool! The deck area includes restrooms, showers, and food and beverage service. All keiki must be accompanied by an adult, as there is no lifeguard on duty.
  • Gym- The WYC jewel of a gym features new modern equipment, air conditioning, and a waterfront view. Exclusive to members 18+ years of age, access is available Tues–Sun, 8:00 AM–6:00 PM.
  • Paddling classes can be enjoyed by all members and range from beginner to expert, in which they compete in statewide tournaments.
  • WiFi- Escape your home office and bring your laptop to the Club. Members and their guests can use the free Wi-Fi to work with a waterfront view while they sip on a cup of joe or enjoy a bite to eat.
  • Sailing Classes- Members and non members are invited to participate in adult sailing lessons or may enroll their children in youth sailing classes (ages 8-18)

  • Monthly dues: $166
  • Minimum food & beverage charge: $300 every quarter

Electricity is billed individually for those larger vessels on D and E docks.

General Rules

The Waikiki Yacht Club is open to members and their guests as well as other current affiliate Yacht Club memberships. Access to the facilities and food and beverage service is available for members of recipricol yacht clubs 14 days per year. All guests without Yacht Club affiliation must be accompanioed by a member and may not order food and beverage on their own.

The Waikiki Yacht Club is governed by the Club Bylaws and House Rules which are extensive but cover the uses of Club premises and member conduct.

Intermediate

  • Open to persons 21–34 years of age
  • Initiation fee: $250
  • Monthly dues: $70
  • Does not include mooring, parking, voting, charging, or spousal privileges

Junior

  • Open to persons 10–20 years of age
  • Initiation fee: $25
  • Monthly dues: "pay your age"
  • Does not include mooring, parking, voting, charging, or spousal privileges

Live Aboard

Liveaboards are not allowed, although members or their immediate and direct family may stay overnight with prior permission from the Port Captain or Board of Directors on a limited basis.

Memberships

Membership Process will take approximately 30-60 days

  • 2 sponsors (Regular/Life Members) are required
  • The initiation fee must be paid in full upon submitting your completed membership application
  • Applicants must attend an interview with the Membership Committee
  • The applicant's name is posted to the General Membership for 1 week
  • Membership/Access card is provided upon Board of Directors approval

Restrooms

The Waikiki Yacht Club has restrooms for both men and women. There are men's and women's restrooms adjacent to the pool with showers. There are also men's and women's facilities located inside the Clubhouse.

Security

Waikiki Yacht Club is a private gated club with 24 hour security patrol on staff.

Vehicle Parking

There is a gated parking lot for regular members with about 35 parking spaces. Outside the Club in Ala Moana Park there is free public parking until 10pm.
