“RUTHLESS” is a 32' Melges designed by Reichel/Pugh that was originally built in 1997 with closed cell foam core fiberglass epoxy construction with carbon reinforcement. The vessel was upgraded in 2015 with a new carbon fiber mast and complete refit in Richmond, California. She is heavily modified for offshore sailing and was sailed here in the 2016 Pacific Cup Race. Since then she has been sailed locally inter-island.
Below there is a large sail stowage area with telescoping bow sprit is followed by the keel stepped mast. Next aft settees along each side with stowage beneath outboard and lifting keel in the center are followed by battery stowage in the center and pipe berths outboard. Further aft two more pipe berths are followed by the emergency rudder lashed inside to starboard.
On deck forward the Harken foil and bow pulpit are followed by the opening hatch, mast, and halyard winches mounted on each side of the hard dodger. Further aft the large cockpit with seating along each side is followed by the mainsheet traveler and tiller. Aluminum stanchions surround the deck with dual 1 x 19 stainless steel lifelines and stern pulpits. The mast can be raised to tension the rig with a hydraulic pump in the cabin. The vessel is white with white non-skid decks and black carbon fiber mast.
