The Cal 2-29 was designed by William Lapworth and built by Jensen Marine. It is a moderate-weight cruiser-racer known for its stability and suitability for coastal cruising. This was one of the most popular recreational Cal models ever produced and features a masthead rig, a fixed fin keel, and skeg rudder. There is a lot of interior space and a new countertop galley.
This Cal 229 has lots of upgrades from the prior owner. The boat was rewired and replumbed. The steering wheel was replaced by a tiller and a new rudder from Foss Foam designed by Carl Schumaker was installed. The mast was pulled and the external halyards were converted to internal. The boat was fitted with a dyneema backstay and the standing rigging was replaced. The boat was sailed out to Hawaii from San Francisco in November of 2015.
